Responsibilities

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Ethernet routing switching platforms, designing and implementing solutions for new services, platform extensions and upgrades for internal and external Customers

The responsibilities shall include:

  • NOC (Network operations centre) / Support - responsible for day to day management of the IX platforms in Ghana and support of peers through email, phone and social media platforms
  • Engineering – responsible for design and implementation of extension to existing IX platform.
  • System Operations and development – responsible for maintenance of servers and services as well as software and web development
  • Security – Management of firewall platforms of internal and external Customers

Qualifications and Skills

  • Sound IT background in both education and experience, specifically in the area of networking.
  • Experience with the management of MPLS, Ethernet, and IP networks, and understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects and protocols that are required to build and maintain these networks. Knowledge of VPLS is a plus
  • Good understanding of routing protocols and have practical experience with configuring BGP
  • Good insight in the structure and relations that make up the Internet.
  • Know your way around in a Linux/Unix environment, can work with shell scripts, and have some understanding of Perl
  • Open minded, eager to learn, able to work in a small team of highly skilled professionals, and stress-resistant. Above this you are willing to participate in the on call duty system
  • Good communication skills, your English is fluent (both spoken and written). You are willing and able to give subject matter presentations to various audiences
  • Willing to troubleshoot WIFI, AP and LAN issues with Customers
  • A degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer science is a plus
  • Completed National service
  • Able to drive and has a drivers license

Responsibilities

The developer will be responsible for putting in place and supporting an automated provisioning platform for the network components and an automated billing platform for internal and external use.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Developing, updating and managing our web platforms
  • Working on our provisioning backend, connecting our provisioning systems to the network components
  • Providing scripting support for the rest of the technical team
  • To help monitor and automate tasks on our Linux and windows server infrastructure
  • Building apps that would integrate with devices and their software’s

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with Perl, Python, Java, Javascript, PHP
  • Experience building and/or consuming REST APIs;
  • Experience working with SCRUM;
  • Experience with test-driven development;
  • Experience of Continuous Integration is beneficial;
  • Experience with Git and Subversion;
  • Experience with development on Linux systems;
  • Experience with Linux command line, ability to do (at least) minor administrative tasks on a Linux system;
  • Understanding of basic network protocols (TCP, UDP);
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Intranet and Internet infrastructure market is a plus;
  • Knowledge and understanding of DevOps is a plus;
  • Ability to work well as part of a team;
  • Ability to think fast and keep calm;
  • Have the ability to multitask and manage deadlines;
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented and accurate;
  • Have the ability to express and understand complex issues in English both verbally and in writing.
